The $47,000 turntable...

One of the most incredible looking turntables I’ve seen is the new Lusso from Germany’s Montegiro. The Lusso features three height adjustable connected cones made from alternate layers of aluminum and black acrylic, and a central inverted cone that supports the aluminum and acrylic platter.

A newly developed ultra precise synchronous motor is suspended in one of the cones, while another supports the standard 10” Da Vinci Nobile carbon fiber arm and Montegiro MG1 titanium cartridge. A special version of the Lusso is also available, which has a fourth cone supporting a second 9” SME 5009 tonearm. Lusso prices start at $47,000 (€30,000).

This has already been done to perfection for a lot cheaper. Now, they're just seeing how expensive they can make it so they can boast about having the World's Most Expensive Turntable.

I'd like to see someone scratching a pair of these decks...that would truly be gangsta.

I like the concept, but it will only be appreciated in the smallest of circles. The 125K record player that "Angeleenie"
posted a link to is a nice one as well...

Still, this won't change the market on playback devices. Pod players are the norm for the current and near future despite being sonically challenged when compared to CD.

I guess engineers need to engineer, no matter what market they are up against!?
