A$AP Rocky may have a lot of fuckin’ problems, but sales aren’t one of them. That Pretty Motherfucker’s studio debut, Long.Live.A$AP, moved 139,000 units in it’s first week to become the number one album in the country, according to Nielsen SoundScan. (For those of you who are struggling with the conversion, 139,000 2013 albums is equivalent to roughly 500,000 pre-Internet albums.) Via All Hip-Hop:
According to Neilsen SoundScan, A$AP Rocky’s debut album moved 139,000 copies in its first week in the stores, easily besting the closest competitor, which was children’s album Kidz Bop 23.
Kidz Bop 23 managed to sell 78,000 copies during its first week out, earning the #2 position.
Is anyone else thoroughly amused by the fact that Kidz Bop 23 was the second best selling album in the country last week? (I’m told it features a 12 year-old girl singing “Purple Swag,” though, so that kind of makes sense.)
Long.Live.A$AP is the first debut album to top the charts in more than a year.
