Pitchfork:

Last month, we reported that Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O was preparing to stage a “psycho-opera” during a series of events put on by The Creators Project in Brooklyn’s DUMBO neighborhood in October. Now, we know a lot more about this mysterious project.

The opera is titled Stop the Virgens, and it’ll premiere at St. Ann’s Warehouse on October 12 for eight performances, concluding on October 22. It was co-created by Karen O and design director KK Barrett, produced by The Creators Project, and directed by Pulitzer Prize finalist Adam Rapp. It features songs by Karen with musical direction from YYYs bandmate Nick Zinner and Sam Spiegel (aka producer Squeak E. Clean of N.A.S.A., and brother of Spike Jonze). Karen’s longtime fashion accomplice Christian Joy designed the costumes. The cast of contributors they’ve got is an eclectic one: in addition to members of the Greenhornes/Raconteurs, Money Mark, and YYYs drummer Brian Chase, actress Lili Taylor(!) will also perform.
