When Beck covers Bowie, he pulls out all of the stops. For his rendition of “Sound and Vision,” Beck brought in a 167-piece orchestra comprised of a few members of the Dap-Kings, members of USC’s marching band, a gamelan ensemble from CalArts, nine guitarists, a theremin, and LA’s Millennium Choir. Though, that would seem like enough of a mouthful, that wasn’t everything. Via Death and Taxes:
As if that was not enough, Beck’s father David Campbell conducted the ensemble and celebrated director Chris Milk (Arcade Fire) created a 360-degree interactive experience where the music and the musicians surrounded the audience. What came to fruition was much more beautiful and exciting than even we expected from the event when we previewed it last week.
