Times UK:

Asked about his views on American politics, he said: “Well, you know right now America is in a state of upheaval. Poverty is demoralising. You can’t expect people to have the virtue of purity when they are poor.

“But we’ve got this guy out there now who is redefining the nature of politics from the ground up…Barack Obama.

“He’s redefining what a politician is, so we’ll have to see how things play out. Am I hopeful? Yes, I’m hopeful that things might change. Some things are going to have to.”

He added: “You should always take the best from the past, leave the worst back there and go forward into the future.”

Cool! Dylan Digs Obama!...as well as Donovan.

#2 Aardvard says:

That's not the Obama I know.

Bob's taken up weed again. Obama is not redefining what a politician is, unless it's redefining it to mean Southside Chicago ward heeler, and feckless for 20 years in the pews. If Obama can't even tell his own pastor that he's wrong, how's he going to face up to guys with weapons and the desire to see us all taking dirt naps?

Here's what Noam Chomsky thinks of Obama: I think he's basically presenting himself as a blank slate, on which you can write your wishes. Hard to find much to be hopeful about. He is energizing a lot of young people, but I don't see much reason to expect that for that reason his presidency would be more responsive to public pressure. Overwhelmingly, the public believes that the government should be responsive to public opinion. But that's such an unpopular elite view that the press won't even report the polls showing this. A more realistic possibility, perhaps, is that those who are energized by the candidacy will devote the energy to something constructive after the likely disillusionment.

This Obama guy must be doing something right if he´s got the Fox News crowd and Noah Chomsky badmouthing him.

#5 Another Alex says:

A ward heeler? A blank slate? So who are you voting for, Aardvard and Francis?

#6 Another Alex says:

OMG: Tom DeLay and Noam Chomsky hate Obama for the same reasons!!

Former House Republican Leader Tom DeLay (Texas) called Barack Obama a "Marxist" on the Mike Gallagher radio show Thursday.

Explaining that Obama clinching the Democratic nomination is a good thing for John McCain, DeLay said Obama's "weakness" is that "nobody knows him."

"And if McCain does not define him as what he is — hey, I have said publicly, and I will again, that unless he proves me wrong, he is a Marxist," DeLay said.

The radio host agreed with DeLay, who is facing money laundering charges, saying Obama is "desperately trying to cover up what seems to be the kind of old school Marxist radical liberal failed ideology."

re: beni and another alex

hahaha, beni, first of all its NOAM CHOMSKY, second of all, he never said that Obama was a Marxist, I think you said that, or whoever in FIXED NEWS said, doesn't have the slightest idea of what Marxism, Frankfurt School, Horkheimer, Hengels and Max Weber ever were.

Now in response to your question another alex, I had intent at the beginning of the primaries, to actually vote for Obama, but, unlike many, I have researched a lot, he is a good candidate, but I think that he, and his brilliant campaign team, a running on other people's emotions, hope, change, who can define what change is? will it be gas prices back at $2.50 a gallon, the end of poverty, or the end of capitalism? all of this is change...

the only reason I posted the Chomsky's comment, is that we should always question and look for answers, being skeptical is the only was that you can find your own truth...

you can vote for whoever you want, just think about your decision, that was the intent.

I really do hope he lives up to the whole hype and kudos he is getting from everyone, mainly the media, let's see what happens if he wins...

Even choosing between a "blank slate" or 4 more years of Bushish terror seems like a pretty obvious decision for anyone not politically retarded.

The same way the right has been doing for years? Just ignore any actual potential to properly cool down a situation and just fire bullets in that direction. Everyone who has been elected with this so-called "experience" that people love to shout towards Obama. Have also gotten us into a world of shit. It's time for the new guys turn.

You guys had your chance. Along with the Jesus-Fear campaign.

Where the real problem is going to come from, is when the world realizes that Obama does not want to make any decisions that are painful. Painful to him, to his family, to the men in military, or to the country. And world leaders are all smart enough to know that right now. All hell could break lose.
