Jay-Z launching record label with Apple:
This one’s been floating around like a hot air balloon, but we’ve just about confirmed it. For those that don’t know, Jay-Z left Def Jam as President last month, and everyone’s been talking about where he’s heading. While this might be one of his many other venutures, we just heard that Jay-Z is launching a record label with Apple.
UPDATE: Apple & Jay-Z: the follow up:
When we said Apple and Jay-Z were starting a record label, it doesn’t mean that Jay is running it. It just means they are doing it together. What we think will happen is Jay will be on as an “urban” artist, and Apple will go out and make similar deals with other rock and country artists.

You'll know for sure if this is true when Justin Long appears in those stupid Mac commercials wearing a Roc-A-Fella pendant.

"i got 99 cents, and i'm gonna buy me one.'
This Jiggaman, he go from General in Major Lable army to revolutionary soldier in fight against Major Lable
Jigga see writing on wall, that must crush Major Lable in order to make new revolution
Apple is his army for to crush Major Lable with new digital paradigm domain
As we say in my countrie, I got 99 problem but Major Lable aint one
Maybe trent raznor will join this Jiggaman to unite in revolution against Major Lable for new fight
Are they friend
I have a feeling Master N. Servant is dying for us to ask what "countrie" he is from...but the shtick is now so old that I don't care.
Apple cannot "enter the music business" per their deal with the Beatles over the name "apple" so this seems unlikely although legally they may be able to form a partnership with Jay-Z that can circumvent the Beatles agreement.
or they can outsource themselves...
Me, your comment in #4 make me sad
I thought we were friend and comerade in fight against Major Lable
Honestly major labels aren't the devil or anything, maybe for Jay-Z this is a good thing, I don't know.
But hopefully Def Jam will release a passable Jay-Z greatest hits, with his post-2000 stuff.
Huge! Keynote January 14th. Stay Tuned.
Major lable not devil?
I have seen this devil, and his own horns
