The Daily Swarm has confirmed that former Clash guitarist/singer Mick Jones and bassist Paul Simonon are appearing on stage with the Gorillaz at the Coachella Music & Arts Festival on Sunday April 18th. Reports have also surfaced that the royal punk duo will also be appearing at KROQ‘s “Secret Coachella Dress Rehearsal” show on Friday evening with the Gorillaz.

Gorillaz will headline on the final evening of the three day extravaganza which is set somewhat coincidentally less than 100 miles from the last official performance of The Clash at the US Festival back in 1983 at Glen Helen Regional Park in San Bernardino, California

KROQ‘S Secret Dress Rehearsal Show:

Listen this week to win your way into the Gorillaz‘ secret KROQ/Coachella dress rehearsal. And, no we’re not gonna tell you where it is so don’t even ask.

Slicing Up Eyeballs:

The Clash’s Mick Jones and Paul Simonon have reunited on record for the first time since 1982’s Combat Rock, each contributing to the title track of the forthcoming Plastic Beach, the just-announced third album from Damon Albarn’s cartoon-fronted Gorillaz… Gorillaz also were announced this week as one of this year’s Coachella headliners.

The Gorillaz album marks the second Clash reunion in months for Jones, who teamed up last year with drummer Nicky “Topper” Headon to re-record their former band’s “Jail Guitar Doors” for a documentary being made about Billy Bragg’s Jail Guitar Doors prisoner-rehabilitation program….And for Simonon, the Gorillaz track reunites the ex-Clash bassist with Blur’s Albarn for the first time since the two participated in 2007’s The Good, The Bad & The Queen project.
