URB:
Portishead is confirmed to headline this year’s Coachella festival on Saturday night, according to a high-level source. The same source unequivocally denied rumors that Radiohead would appear at Coachella, but did confirm that the group would play the East Coast festival being planned by Coachella promoters Goldenvoice/AEG Live . The full Coachella line-up will be announced this Monday.
At a news conference scheduled for today, Tollett and his business partners, which include concert promotion giant AEG Live, plan to announce the full lineup for the ninth edition of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio this April. It will include the Verve, the Raconteurs, Jack Johnson, My Morning Jacket and Rilo Kiley.
Tollett is also planning to elaborate on his new venture in Jersey City, N.J.: a three-day August festival (reportedly headlined by Radiohead and Johnson) on a grassy expanse in 1,200-acre Liberty State Park that has a dramatic vista of the Manhattan skyline.
Today’s news conference is being staged neither in Indio nor in the Garden State, however. It’s in . . . Mexico City? Sure enough, although Tollett said he has “no plans right now” to launch a counterpart festival on the other side of the border, he also gushes about the surprising resonance of the Coachella brand with Mexican fans, artists and press. “It is something that’s crossed my mind,” he said in an interview.

i hope the verve tours the u.s. and not just a one off.
Sure I wanna see the Verve.
But the Raconteurs? Over-toured/not that great. Jack Johnson? I mean, for anyone with decent musical taste, WHO CARES? My Morning Jacket? Good band, but if you're a fan you've seen 'em four times last year alone. And Rilo Kiley? Good for soundtracking bad sitcoms/short-form hospital dramedies. A SPIN cover does not put a band in superstar status (or even innovator status). More like, as Master N. Servant says, expression of "major lable" marketing dollars than artistic expression.
That's a long post to say "Who cares?" so far...
That his huge. The Verve, Roger & Portishead.
You know what kind of crowd this will attract. It might be the most diverse to date.
Fucking brilliant!
Wow--that is the worst Coachella lineup yet.
BORING
BORING
BORING
Then again after last year's stellar one, only one way to go, right?
Pink Floyd, maybe--Roger Waters? NO.
The Verve (interesting but retro), Portishead (ain't the Pixies), Raconteurs (feh), Jack Johnson (sacrilege!), My Morning Jacket (could take off in this context, but ain't Radiohead), Rilo Kiley (superyawn), Fatboy Slim/Sasha/Digweed/Tacuba (MEGA yawn--what is this, 1997?), Justice (fantastic, but, um, didn't they play last year?), Death Cab (not inspiring live), M.I.A. (great but erratic), Breeders (see Portishead), Kraftwerk (always great but haven't we seen this before?), Love & Rockets (ain't no Jesus and Mary Chain)...
The worst thing is, other than Justice, My Morning Jacket , Kraftwerk and maybe M.I.A., none of these are really blow-your-mind live spectacles (unless the Verve really go deep like they used to...)
Yeah very underwhelming lineup.
What, the Jonas Brothers weren't available?
DIMITRI FROM PARIS SUCKS BALLS!
WHERE IS HE PLAYING AT THE LEMONADE STAND?
This is the worst grouping in Coachella's history.
Jack Johnson? haha what the hell?
jumping on the "worst lineup in years" bandwagon. There are still enough bands I like to get me to go, I'm just thoroughly unimpressed with what they're considering headliners.
Can anyone say Boring?? The only ones I would check out are Sasha and Digweed! The rest blows chunks!!
Scroobius Pip and Uffie should have a steel cage, 'loser leaves town' match to decide once and for all who is the most atrocious act in Coachella history.
Overall, it's not a bad line-up, but the really good acts are spread out among the 3 days, and it's not worth 300+ dollars to go see 15 bands over a three day period.
Fortunately, every month there are a lot of events where one can enjoy his time and entertain his self. For example, there are great events that worth attendance like Coachella which provides different kinds of entertainment. And really this festival is ultimately attended. But every time in such hot events the problem of tickets is disturbing. Lately, I discovered an interesting website where to compare ticket prices for free and I find that it’s a great idea because this way I can find the cheapest offer. Here it is: http://www.ticketwood.com/concerts/Co...
I found www.thedailyswarm.com very informative. The article is professionally written and I feel like the author knows the subject very well. www.thedailyswarm.com keep it that way.
