The Detroit Lions are relevant for the first time in years.
So when they face the Green Bay Packers in their annual Thanksgiving game, people will actually pay attention. And the last thing Lions fans want the nation to see at halftime is Nickelback on Ford Field.
Which is why they’re petitioning to have the Canadian rock quartet removed from the game. And they’re pretty passionate about it:
“This game is nationally televised, do we really want the rest of the US to associate Detroit with Nickelback? (NO! – Detroit Ed.) Detroit is home to so many great musicians and they chose Nickelback?!?!?! Does anyone even like Nickelback? (NO! – Detroit Ed.) Is this some sort of ploy to get people to leave their seats during halftime to spend money on alcoholic beverages and concessions? (Probably! – Detroit Ed.)
