uran Duran has always been notorious (no pun intended) for its passionate followers, and a new documentary entitled Something You Should Know explores the lives of some the band’s biggest fans around the world. This includes Golub as well as a long list of celebrities from Kelly Ripa to Moby.

Tentatively scheduled for a July 2008 release, Something You Should Know is culled from more than 250 hours of footage of Duran Duran performances and interviews with 800 fans and musical artists as diverse as No Doubt, Korn, Michelle Branch, Barenaked Ladies, Scissor Sisters and more. The documentary’s official website, FansOnFilm.com, promises more updates and details soon.

#1 Steven Patrick Morrissey says:

maybe one day these guys will get the credit they deserve for being a legendary band. now of course, without chic and roxy music, they don't have a career but that's beside the point.

#2 Me, That's Who... says:

Chino from the Deftones has cited them as an influence back in their early days. It's sad to see people like Jon Bon Jovi still performing and staying somewhat relevant while better groups fall to the wayside.

#3 Durandy says:

Steven Patrick Morrissey, I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment. There are critics out there who just wait patiently for the next DD album to come out, and then pounce on it, trying to drive the nails into their coffin. With a storied career that has yielded much influential impact on how people make, hear and see music, Duran Duran have earned their place in history and deserve respect. It's good to see others recognize that. I think the band actually may become eligible for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame soon.

Thanks for sharing your insights. All my best.
