Fania Records:

Fania Records, home to one of the most well-known Latin catalogs in the world, announced a unique partnership with FADER Media, for a yearlong remix project that will introduce the label’s legendary music to a new generation. The ongoing collaboration begins in August 2010 and consists of one new remix per month. The first artists announced for the program include Colombia’s Bomba Estereo, Mexico’s Toy Selectah, and London’s Isa GT.

Each remix will be released monthly on 7-inch vinyl; with bundled remixes released on a quarterly EP (vinyl, digital). In 2011, all 12 remixes will be compiled on a complete album (CD, vinyl, digital).

Billboard:

Venerable salsa label Fania Records has partnered with youth lifestyle media company Fader Media to produce remixes of classics from the Fania catalog to be marketed to a younger audience. The association is expected to result not only in music but in branded events and opportunities that can take the Fania catalog to a different audience.

As part of the partnership, Fader will identify contemporary artists who will remix traditional Fania tracks for a one-year period. One track will be released in digital and vinyl 7” format per month and in 2011, all 12 remixes will be released as an album in CD, vinyl and digital formats under the Fader/Fania label. Fader will deliver the remixes to its DJ markets while Fania, in turn, will be responsible for distribution and is pitching several major brands for specific market events.

The first track to be released will be a remix of “Aguanile,” originally recorded by Hector Lavoe and remixed by Toy Selectah. Future remixes will be done by the likes of Bomba Estereo and Isa GT.
