Helpless: 1,623 Canadian Guitarists Fail To Break Guinness Record...

A bid to break the Guinness world record for largest guitar ensemble fell short this weekend, when only 1,623 axe-wielders – 179 shy of the record – showed up for a Luminato festival event in Toronto, Canada. Although a line of enthusiastic participants had earlier wrapped around the block – and registrars were signing up some 25 people per minute – the attempt was deemed a failure shortly after 5:30pm. Guinness judge Carlos Martinez, a Spaniard flown in from New York City, made the official announcement.
