Underneath her adorable blonde exterior, Taylor Swift is a fucking heavyweight. The country-turned-pop singer’s fourth album Red, sold 1.2 million records in its first week, the biggest first week of any album since Eminem’s The Eminem Show dropped in 2002, selling 1.3 million units. It’s also the second-biggest first week for an album by a female artists. (The number one spot is still held by Britney, for Oops! ... I Did It Again.) Via Rolling Stone:
Swift’s sales totals for Red include 465,000 copies on iTunes; 396,000 copies through Target, which had an exclusive deluxe version of the album with bonus songs and remixes; and 8,000 copies through Papa John’s Pizza, which sold the album on its own and as part of a large one-topping pizza combo.
Choke on it, Gyllenhaal.
