Kim “Kim Dotcom” Schmitz, the ever defiant, legally besieged German-born, New Zealand-based founder of file sharing site Megaupload, says he will have a new online music service up and running by the end of the year. Via Washington Post:
Dotcom says his planned music service will enable users to download music for free in exchange for accepting some advertisements. He says 90 percent of the revenue will go to the artists. Still, the move is bound to provoke U.S. prosecutors and entertainment executives.
The US Department of Justice is attempting to extradite Dotcom to the US, where he will face charges of copyright infringement, money laundering and racketeering.
