For those of you that were too young to escape those awkward teenage years with the help of Robert Smith and the Cure, the Knife made an ample substitute. However, the sibling duo of Karin Dreijer Andersson and Olof Dreijer has been pretty silent since 2010’s Darwinian opera Tomorrow, In a Year and it’s been painfully obvious that what the world needs now is new Knife material. Luckily, a new nine-minute single will be released next week leading up to their new album. In addition, the duo have announced a few festival appearances. Via Pitchfork:
On April 9 in the U.S., and April 8 international, the Knife will release their first album in seven years, Shaking the Habitual. Now Gorilla vs. Bear reports that a new, nine-minute single, “Full of Fire”, will be out next week.
The Knife recently announced a string of European tour dates. Now, they can add a headlining slot at Gothenburg’s Way Out West festival to the list.
The duo join the festival’s only other previously announced act, Solange. Way Out West takes place from August 8-10. The Knife will also play Helsinki’s Flow Festival on August 7.
... They’re also playing Oslo’s Øyafestivalen on August 10, headlining the festival’s final day. It’ll be their only Norwegian date this summer.
