Lena Dunham, Carrie Brownstein, Miranda July and dozens of friends took to their webcams and lip synced Leslie Gore’s 1964 hit “You Don’t Own Me” as part of a campaign to remind women of the many, many good reasons for them not to vote for the GOP. Via Spinner:

“You Don’t Own Me” is a lip-syncing montage set to Lesley Gore’s 1964 hit of the same name. You’ll recognize a lot of famous faces in there, including Carrie Brownstein, Karen Elson, “Girls” mastermind Lena Dunham, Firehorse’s Leah Siegel, Alia Shawkat of “Arrested Development,” Miranda July, Zoe Kravitz and many, many more.

“I recorded ‘You Don’t Own Me’ in 1964 and it’s hard for me to believe, but we’re still fighting for the same things we were then. Yes, ladies, we’ve got to come together, get out there and vote, and protect our bodies,” says Gore. “They’re ours. Please vote.”

The lip-syncing is interspersed with messages about Romney and the Republican Party’s plans to defund Planned Parenthood and overturn Roe vs. Wade, among other threats to women’s rights. Check out the awesome video, which was created by Citizens Band leader and activist Sarah Sophie Flicker, below!

Yeah, that’s right, Leslie Gore is in the video, too. I bet that made Mitt cry just a little.
