If there’s anyone out there still doubting Lil Wayne’s status as a pop music legend, let’s put to rest once and for all. The syrup-sipping, lawyer threatening, generally unstable MC has stolen Elvis Presley’s record for the most appearances on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, thanks to his guest appearance on The Game’s most recent single “Celebration.” That said, there are some astrisks to Weezy F. Baby’s new record. Via Consequence of Sound:
Only 42 of Wayne’s 109 entries are solo hits (three of which came from the god awful Rebirth.) The other 61 were guest appearances. Presley, on the other hand, was the featured artist on all 108 of his entries. What’s more, many of Presley’s biggest hits – including “Heartbreak Hotel”, “Don’t Be Cruel”, and “Hound Dog” – were released before the Billboard Hot 100 chart was established in 1958. And, if you want to technical, the cast of Glee actually has the most all time entries with 204.
All the same, good for you, Weezy. Who’s the King now, bitches?
