Lil Wayne's mixtape art: 'confirms that he is actually trying to become rap's Meat Loaf'...
We all knew Lil Wayne had a penchant for dystopic prog imagery, epic guitar noodling and albums with many sequels, but the cover of his newest mixtape, “The Drought Is Over Part Six: The Reincarnation,” confirms that he is actually trying to become rap’s Meat Loaf.
Is it a parable for the ways Wayne’s chart success has redeemed New Orleans’ psyche since Katrina? A gesture at the nobility of fatherhood in a world of perils for young minority males? Wayne imagining himself as rap’s avenging angel of death, making rivers run red with the blood of MCs he’s recently eaten? We can only begin to guess at the metaphor here, but let it be said that we’re going to get whoever designed this cover to make the new Pop & Hiss logo.
