The New York Times examined fashion brand (I bet they hate being called that) Supreme, long associated, in a vague standoffish way, with skatepunks and hip-hop in equal measure. The last line of the story says it all.

Prices are hardly astronomical (jeans are about $130; hoodies, $170), but Supreme cultivates the same covetous frenzy that might greet a new $9,000 Herm├Ęs Birkin bag.
