Blinded by the Hype:

Metallica held an album listening party for selected music journalists in London this Wednesday past. One of the writers was kind enough to write a piece about the album which, if you were lucky enough to read it before it was taken down, was full of praise about a return to form. At no point was the writer ask[ed] to sign a non-disclosure agreement. The Quietus and other websites ran pieces on the album, but were quickly contacted by Metallica’s management via a third party and told to remove the articles. The Quietus kept our article up the longest and, as no non-disclosure agreement had been signed, [was] not prepared to remove it merely due to the demands of Metallica’s management. We only eventually removed the article earlier today to protect the professional interests of the writer concerned (the piece was written anonymously). Seems Metallica’s fear of the internet shows no sign of abating.

The new record is going to be everything that made Metallica into the premier thrash band starting in the late 80's continuing to the present, all, I remind you, without ANY radio or MTV airplay, that is until they did the video 'One' and that blew everyone away because up to that point, no one had ever done a video like that before, but of course, is pretty much the norm now.

Metallica's next album will be back to the roots of the band. Just think 'Ride', 'Master' and 'Garage Days Re-revisited' all combined and start building from there. Hell, 'Chinese Democracy' is the only other album that's as eagerly anticipated to be released this year and it's pretty much considered to be as big if not bigger; which most likely will happen.

But why am I wasting my time on the comments of a few Emo fans who hate Metallica only because metal fans are beating them up?

Metallica blows chunks. they sued their fans and now will choke up a new record that will be weak sauce compared with their early metal records. these guys have made million and pissed off band members and the general public for far too long.

So from that preview article so far. It's a couple of "okay" songs compared to their Bob Rock days to two more dull mediore tracks. It mainly sounds like he's really surprised they can still play guitars and drums "really" fast at their age more than anything.

As I expected, this sounds like a winner of a turd already!

If there was no perceived problem with posting a review of the album, then why was the Quietus writer anonymous?
Who was the "third party" who asked the sites to take down the reviews? Was it a lawyer? Or just a publicist?
There's more to this story than they're letting on.

I loved Metallica back in the 80's, and they were awesome then. Now, not so much, and I highly doubt that the alblum will blow us away. After the whole napster fiasco, it killed alot of love that the original fans had for the band. Not to mention the whole craptacular load and reloaed alblums and the bottom of the pit st anger. Im sure people will buy it but it will never be the metallica of old, those guys dont exist anymore.
It will never be like the first three alblums. they dont have that fire anymore.
