Last Sunday, the Swarm posted about DJ Shadow being removed from his gig at the Miami club Mansion because he wasn’t playing the right thing – which isn’t really possible for an artist of his caliber, as far as we’re concerned.
Later in the week, at a show in New York, DJ Shadow thanked the crowd for not being as horrible as those promoters in Miami. Via NME:
“I would never take your respect for me and your money that you paid to get in for granted by serving you up some bullshit. So, for me, this is like a breath of fresh air in my life. I haven’t been able to do this in a long time.”
And now, Mansion has apologized. Their statement (via the Miami New Times):
We offer our most sincere apologies to DJ Shadow and his fans for his set being cut short at Mansion this past weekend. This error should not have happened and will not happen again, especially as we pride ourselves on creating an environment that cultivates and respects innovators such as DJ Shadow. We have learned a lot from this error and made changes within our organization to ensure that Mansion’s vision, and the vision of our guests, will never be compromised again.
