Last night’s Brit Awards saw Mumford & Sons, Emeli Sandé and Ben Howard clean up in the domestic categories, while Lana Del Rey – who wrote her album in the UK – Frank Ocean and The Black Keys won in the International brackets. Via NME :
Emeli Sande’s 'Our Version of Events’ was named Album of the Year. The singer was also named Best British Female and she was presented her award – this year designed by Damien Hirst – by Taylor Swift.
Ben Howard was named Best British Male beating Plan B, Richard Hawley, Calvin Harris and Olly Murs. Murs went on to tweet: “I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t gutted!! Big up to Ben Howard!! Well done.” Howard also scored the award for British Breakthrough over the likes of fellow nominees Alt-J and Jake Bugg.
Best International Female was Lana Del Rey. “I lived here and I love it here and I wrote my record here and I’m honoured,” said the US singer songwriter on receiving her award. She also thanked her management for helping to turn her life into a “work of art”.
Adele, meanwhile, picked up the Best British Single award for “Skyfall. Here’s the complete list of winners.
