#1 Mike says:

Just shows that he's actually a fucking nigger. He's supposed to be a professional and then he goes and wears shit like this? I hate ignorant people.

#2 Uh, dude? says:

#1, what's up with that? This whole "freedom of the internet" thing is getting a little scary... Please, no racist comments on the swarm-or anywhere.

#3 Nice comment Mike says:

You hate "ignorant people" and do the same exact thing?

Bravo sir.

#4 Give 'Em The Boot says:

Racists off swarm! Is there a weird link to the swarm via some weird crypto-fascist libertarian site or something?

#5 Nas Is Like... says:

Of course, exposing idiots like Mike is exactly what Nas' provocation is trying to do.
Nas - 1
Mike - O

#6 Me, That's Who... says:

May I interject?

Okay...NOW is it safe for white people to casually use the "N" word in conversation? I can't imagine that someone would wear a shirt with a word on it that they would be offended if someone else read out loud.

That's like a homosexual wearing a shirt that read "Faggot", and then got mad because someone pointed at his shirt and said repeated word.

#7 Huh? says:

"Okay...NOW is it safe for white people to casually use the "N" word in conversation?"

Why would it be safe or would you want to use the word to begin with? Are people waiting for black people to give the "ok" so people can run their mouth how they've always wanted to? or am I missing something here?

#8 Me, That's Who... says:

I was making a facetious comment on the general attitude of white America...but then realized that it made sense that this word shouldn't be displayed so prominently by those that would supposedly be offended by it.

I think it's funny that such a dumb sounding word has been given such heft. It underlines the ignorance of the people that attempt to use it to offend.

#9 Uh, dude? says:

#6 Me, That's Who--I hate to tell you this, but yes, there is a difference between Nas wearing a shirt that says "Nigger" and #1 Mike calling him a "fucking nigger."
Hello!

#10 Me, That's Who... says:

Either way, both white and black people have given the word more oomph than it deserves. What does the word actually mean? A black person? Why would it be so offensive then?

It's like telling a kid he can say "poop" but not "shit", even though both words mean the same exact thing. What is the difference?

I guess it's because of the history of the word...but then, why would a black person put it on the front of their shirt if it was so offensive to them?

#11 Nas Is Like... says:

Me, That's Who, I know you mean well, and you're trying to rationalize all this intellectually, but... You're out of your league. Get some black friends, and all will become clear as day.

#12 The Visible Man says:

"Get some black friends, and all will become clear as day."

Wow and if that's not racist I don't know what is.

I noticed when I polled my black friends about the whole n*****-labeling issue I got 10 different answers.
Try seeing what kind of all encompassing answer you get when you ask Russel Simmons, Nas, Bill Cosby, Ice T, Maya Angelou and Dem Fanchise Boyz what they think when they hear the word.

So please, enlighten us oh wise one, how is being a patronizing A-Hole by asking someone to go 'get some black friends' going to clear things up?

#13 djd says:

Kelis and Nas are totally fucking awesome.

#14 Nas Is Like... says:

#12, you are right--that was a little patronizing on my part. However, I do think any black person will be pretty clear about what it means to be called a "fucking nigger" by a non-black person. I also don't think most will dispute the difference between Nas using the word and a redneck like #1 Mike--that was the point I was trying to get across. While there are gradations, those differences are pretty clear. Again, all this dialogue is positive--what Nas intended. And as for getting some black friends, I think when people like Me That's Who grow ideas in a vacuum, they can get distended. Hence...

#15 Me, That's Who... says:

Get some black friends. LOL! Nice one, dude.

I produce hip hop tracks for rappers in the New Orleans area. I have black friends, black clients, and black business associates in this business. None of them have a problem with the "N" bomb, as they call me it on a daily business (and I'm part white, part hispanic by the way). I return the sentiment to them quite often also. It's not even an issue. It's a neutral word, and only has power when it suits people's needs.
Since I don't look like your standard hispanic male, people often confide in me their attitude towards these damn "spics" that are "invading our country". I'll even have a laugh with them about it.

Just words.

#16 Nas is Like... says:

Me, That's Who, you are right. My apologies. Again, thanks to brave artists like Nas for stirring us all up and getting this out there! Now if we could work on #1 Mike a little and open his brain...

#17 Me, That's Who... says:

Hey, no problem on this side. I like digging deep into social and political issues with intellectual people like most of the people on here. It's all good.

And to hear me and some of my "black friends", go to www.myspace.com/nvstracks .

Peace.
