New York Press via Ear Farm:

Putting together the heads of some of our smartest, most musically inclined friends we came up with tons of songs, but what was for one person too mainstream was for another too weird. While some folks rallied for bands that have never made it past Market Hotel, others stomped their feet at the idea of leaving off the borough’s marquee names. Truthfully, there are no 40 (or 80 or 140) songs that can define what Brooklyn sounds like—hell, we’re only working with rock songs; a list of hip-hop, electronic music and other genres could take eons to suss out—but we’ve put together what we think is a guide (listed in no particular order) that gets a little closer to the spirit of Brooklyn’s current rock scene. But what the fuck do we know?
