Of all the numerous media firings/layoffs/forced resignations hitting the media world, this is one of the most perplexing. Jeff Leeds is an incredible reporter, and no one at the NYT is able to achieve what he is capable of. Right when the music industry is about to undergo its most profound transformation, the paper of record gets rid of the best music-biz reporter around? It truly makes no sense. We've got an election coming up - why bother covering that, too?
