“The Gig of a Lifetime” is a contest being run by CBS and the Grammys, which will see an “aspiring artist” have the opportunity to play on the Grammy stage next month. For reasons totally beyond anyone’s understanding, one of those “aspiring artists” is former major label signee and indie rap star Lil B. Via Pitchfork:
The contest is decided through a voting process, which began on January 10 on a Grammy/CBS Facebook app. Lil B is one of the nominees in the Pacific region, and if he advances, he’ll take part in a final round of voting that runs from January 17 to the 24. The winner will be announced on January 29 and brought to Los Angeles “to participate in GRAMMY Live events, culminating in a live performance in front of an audience and webcast to fans around the globe.”
So it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re going to see Lil B up there on stage grinning with Taylor Swift, but hey— it’s one small step for Lil B, one giant leap for BasedKind.
Hopefully he’ll do the song he recorded with his cat if he wins.
