Richmond, VA Police Chief Bryan Norwood stepped down yesterday after the Los Angeles District Attorney accused him of helping Chris Brown falsify community service hours. Brown was sentenced to 180 days community service after being convicted of assaulting Rihanna in 2009, but was allowed to perform them in his hometown of Richmond. Via Hip Hop DX:
The report provides that the hours were never performed, that Norwood personally oversaw recording the hours, and that he vouched for Brown.
The Mayor of Richmond says his office reached a “mutual agreement” with the Chief regarding his resignation.
The judge in the Rihanna case is still looking for Brown to get his hours independently verified. Former Assistant Chief of Police Ray J. Tarasovic will come out of retirement to take over for Norwood.
