The brakes have slammed on San Francisco’s luxury market—and the only house in the city to sell for $5 million or more over the last three months happens to have belonged to punk rock-made millionaire Mike “Fat Mike” Burkett, bass player for NOFX and founder of the Fat Wrech Cords label.

The Monterey Boulevard estate, listed for $5.4 million last year, sold in November for $5 million to a certain Wei X. Liu. And assuming Burkett’s investment in the house was less than $500,000, he stands to have made a tidy profit, given that he bought it for a little more than $4 million in 2003, according to public records.

The house doesn’t exactly scream punk rock—built in 1924, it looks more like a plantation estate than an urban retreat, although the interior certainly has been updated and modernized, complete with a “sophisticated media, lighting and sound systems.”
