Freed Pussy Riot member Yekaterina Samutsevich says the group’s lawyers were more concerned with bolstering their own reputation within the Russian anti-government circles than keeping them out of jail. Pitchfork:

In an interview published on the Russian website Lenta.ru this Monday, freed Pussy Riot member Yekaterina Samutsevich accused the lawyers defending the band of “failing to carry out their legal duties, caring more about their personal fame and careers inside the Russian opposition” and “forging papers to register the Pussy Riot brand,” according to a report by the Guardian.

Samutsevich won her freedom after switching legal teams. Pussy Riot’s original legal team Mark Feygin, Nikolai Polozov, and Violetta Volkova have responded by saying that Samutsevich is lying, and that her statements were part of a bargain made with the Kremlin to secure her freedom.
