Making good on a promise by venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, the polarizing website Rap Genius is moving towards a new frontier. The first project in their new expanded mission is tackling the 1611 King James Bible. Oh boy. Good or bad, this is going to be thoroughly entertaining. Via FACT:
As you’d expect, the site’s hermeneutic approach is playful rather than authoritative – a peek at the page for Genesis 3 offered serious exegesis, satirical readings and this image. In a blog post, the site have offered some historical context for the project:

Through an extensive series of hyperlink explanations, ranging from detailed theological and cultural explanations of phrases and passages to relevant audio clips, images, rap lyrics and memes (yes, really) Rap Genius are appealing to the (knowing) public to contribute to this swarm of links. All you need to do is sign up for an RG account to add your annotations, just as with song lyrics. Quite how accurate, tongue-in-cheek, contemporary and funny this will turn out remains to be seen but, it seems that you can’t keep a good blog down.
