After surviving a drive-by shooting earlier this week, rapper Rick Ross has hired a team of armed security guard to watch him around the clock. Via BET:
A source in the rapper’s camp revealed to TMZ that Ross had been receiving death threats prior to being shot as he left a South Florida restaurant early Monday morning. It has been widely reported that members of the notorious street gang Gangster Disciples had a beef with the rap star.
Fellow rap star Pusha T has spoken with Rozay since the shooting and says that Ross is OK. He added that most rappers are aware of the possibility of something like this happening to them.
“I don’t wanna hear about that with anybody. I definitely like hit him up like, 'Yo just let me know you’re okay.’ We have the same mix engineer and I ended up speaking to him later on that day and he was like, 'Yeah, he’s just laying back,’” said Pusha. “That was enough for me, but it’s tough out here. It’s tough out here for an artist. This is the only profession where you don’t really leave your core. You don’t really leave your upbringing. You don’t really leave that behind, you stay in it, lyrically and so on and so forth. You can’t really get out of it, you can’t get away from it. I don’t care how much money you have.”
For once, we’re happy we chose to be bloggers and turned down that contract with Ruff Ryders we were offered at the turn of the millenium.
