Leroy “Sugarfoot” Bonner has died at the age of 69. Bonner was the frontman for the 1970s R&B group, the Ohio Players. Via Pitchfork:
In 1964 in Dayton, Sugarfoot began the Ohio Players with members of the band the Ohio Untouchables. The band underwent a series of lineup and label changes before striking gold with 70s hits like “Funky Worm”, “Fire”, “Love Rollercoaster” (later covered by the Red Hot Chili Peppers), “O-H-I-O”, and more. Up until the time of his death, Sugarfoot performed live regularly with a band called Sugarfoot’s Ohio Players.
