A few weeks ago, we talked about why one barely-there village in Texas, Hudspeth County’s Sierra Blanca, arrests so many touring musicians. (The short answer is that it’s home to a massively well-funded border checkpoint, despite being 30 miles north of the border, is on the only direct route between Texas and the West Coast, and rock stars tend to carry drugs on their tour buses.)
Well, now, Nelly can be added to the list of casualties, joining Willie Nelson, Fiona Apple and Snoop Dogg-Lion. At least he’s in good company. Via Rolling Stone:
Police in Texas detained Nelly last night after finding .64 ounces of heroin, a loaded .45-caliber pistol and 10 pounds of marijuana in the rapper’s tour bus, TMZ reports.
The bus was pulled over at a border patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, when a police dog detected the presence of drugs on the bus, according to law enforcement sources.
That’s right, Nelly will see your penny-ante weed busts and raise you 18-plus grams of smack.
