SXSW in promo deal with Wendy's and Dr. Pepper...

Promo Magazine:

People who visit participating Wendy’s restaurants in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and New Mexico and buy any large combo meal with a Dr Pepper will receive a code to download one free song from drpepperrocks.com. Visitors can use the codes to receive up to 33 songs through the promotion, which runs through Feb. 29.

The music promotion is part of Wendy’s and Dr Pepper’s sponsorship of the SXSW (South by SouthWest) Music and Media Conference scheduled for March 12–16 in Austin. Under the program, Wendy’s is featuring music downloads from established and emerging artists.

On the site, people can find artist biographies, tour dates and other information tied to the conference.

A sweepstakes at drpepperrocks.com offers 10 grand-prize trips to the music conference and lodging. Lesser prizes include SXSW hats, T-Shirts and Wendy’s gift cards.

I guess now that the "evil corporate empires" of both Wendy's and Dr. Pepper are getting involved, that will mean that all the "doing this music for ourselves and no one else" "indie" musicians crowd won't be showing up this year? I can only hope so as that way, there will be more room for the bands who actually WANT to make something of themselves.

Oh ya and by the way? How's that lawsuit against Rolling Stone, Camel and any other evil corporate giant you have going because they used your FUCKING PRECIOUS NAME in an ad going? You know what? If your "artistic integrity" is so fucking important to you, then stop making records, stop playing shows and just noodle to your hearts content in your fucking basements and shut the fuck up.

And that goes for you too, "uselessgoo" which is a perfect name for the bullshit that is spewed forth, both from your mouth as well as from the indie crowd I loath and despise.

Tell you what? Why don't you posers all go fuck yourselves and let those musicians who actually WANT to make money and BE successful, take your places not only in SXSW, but in this world as well, as that way, we would all be so much better off.

just what we need, more yuk yuks at sxsw... didn't this used to be an industry convention? every year, with a BADGE not a wristband, i get shut out of more and more shows, now we have fast food contest winners in the queue? sponsors that have less than zero relevance to the event. if the lineup doesn't get better, i'm out this year
