FACT:

Born from a series of pieces that Durutti founder Vini Reilly composed for Wilson to listen to while ill in hospital, before his death in 2007, Paean to Wilson was officially commissioned by the Manchester International Festival of Music for their 2009 festivities. Reilly reveals more in the liner notes to the release, as seen here:

“A Paean to Wilson is part of a body of work which I started around the time that my friend, Tony Wilson died. Towards the end of his illness, I sent him an instrumental track and he loved it, so I decided that the right thing to do was carry on.
