The latest on the Mexican Emo War:
Mexico City’s Goths, or “Darkys,” held a demonstration to deny any involvement in the anti-Emo violence that has roiled the country over the past few weeks. In Excelcior (English Google Translation), they blamed the media for mis-portraying them and other musical subcultures as aggressors:
Representatives of the movement or dark Gothic of Mexico City denied that such urban tribe were behind the attacks that occurred in different parts of the country against the emo community, as communion between human beings is one of its main precepts.
“Darkys or members of the Gothic movement we do not have an issue of defence against other groups or aggression, we are not immersed in a matter of beating the opposite, we are beyond that, or we are trying to put over that and avoid violence, “said Cristhian Chavero, director of the Dark magazine.
Chavero said that the atmosphere of tension that prevails among urban tribes is due in large part to the misleading information disseminated about them. “If the public believes that darkys are bad, that the punks are bad, any parent after seeing some notes as those issued apresaran we could ask,” he said.
He accepted, however, that it is not the duty of the press, or society, know or understand the ideology dark, but that was rejected tache “Gothic” to a group of people dressed in black or has an appearance similar to yours.
We were not, we will not attack, we do not believe in that, for many years we have lived with these groups and although emos are recent, we have three years to live with them, why so far this happen? Sólo quisiéramos que los medios dejaran de repetir que somos los culpables”, agregó el representante darky. Only wish that the media stop repeating that we are the culprits, “added the representative darky.
