PREPARE TO LAUNCH: VEVO, the premium music content service venture with principals UMG, Sony and Google, will hold its official launch Dec. 8 at Triebeca’s Skylight Studios in N.Y., according to inside sources. Look for major artists from both UMG and Sony as well as leading indies to be on hand, along with senior execs and representatives from the world’s top brands and ad agencies. The YouTube-based service was shepherded by UMG’s Doug Morris, who brought in SME’s Rolf Schmidt-Holtz to partner, as well as Google’s Eric Schmidt. The event is being produced by VEVO head Rio Caraeff, IGA boss Jimmy Iovine, RCA/JIVE Label Group’s Barry Weiss and UMG corporate communications czar Peter LoFrumento. (11/18p)
