The Alternative Distribution Alliance, an independent distributor owned by the Warner Music Group (NYSE: WMG), has acquired Insound.com, the indie music lifestyle store, reports Billboard, for an undisclosed sum. The NYC-based site, founded in 19998, will allow ADA to use the Insound digital sales infrastructure as a back-end for its labels and indie accounts to open their own online download stores, the story says. Insoundstarting selling only physical products via mail-order, and in October 2006 it began selling albums in MP3 format for download as well.

i guess it's a hard business to be in, but this is disappointing news for someone who looked at Insound with a lot of respect. It's hard to trust retail sites and their recommendations when their owners and selling their own products through there as well. It was a good run, Insound.
