Starting today, 1,300 acts from around the world will vie for the attention of executives, journalists and rabid fans at CMJ, but who has the potential of standing out? Via The New York Times:
Every year a few acts distinguish themselves, earning that invaluable commodity known as “buzz,” an elusive combination of music industry gossip and fan chatter, without which albums are not sold and stars are not born.
Here are a few of this year’s crop of hopefuls, including a newly formed London rock band with an angry edge; a D.I.Y. band from Tampa, Fla., hoping to crawl out of the underground; and a precocious young female rapper who has already been signed by a major label.
