A new resolve by school officials in this booming Dallas suburb to crack down on sexually suggestive dancing—and skimpy clothing—has sparked a rancorous debate over what boundaries should be set for teenagers’ self-expression. Argyle joins a long list of other schools around the country that have banned the hip-hop inspired dancing known as “grinding” or “freak dancing.”

But in Argyle, a once-sleepy farming community strained by explosive growth from an influx of well-to-do suburbanites, the controversy has gotten vicious. Some parents blame the newly installed school superintendent, Jason Ceyanes, 35, for ruining their children’s October homecoming dance by enforcing a strict dress code and making provocative dancing off-limits. Disgusted, a lot of kids left, and the dance ended early.

Mr. Ceyanes says he fears current cleavage-baring dress styles combined with sexually charged dancing could lead to an unsafe environment for students.

“This is not just shaking your booty,” he said. “This is pelvis-to-pelvis physical contact in the private areas…and then moving around.”

They need to have a dance instructor come in and teach these teens dancing like we did back in the "good old days," the late sixties and early seventies. Let these kids see the ALLIGATOR! On the floor.

This grinding stuff today is tame and very "last year." We used to call it "dry humping," and the only difference today is that it's done doggy-style instead of front to front.

The rules were in a district handbook at the beginning of the year, way before the dance. It's just another example of kids who think they're too cool to follow rules. And parents who stick up for them 'cos they think their kids are perfect. Good for our superintendent to enforce our rules.

Argyle ISD is doing the right thing. Kids need to be taught morals and discipline. If the the parents are unable to do this, I guess the school district has to take up the slack. It is obivous this is the case in Aryle. Kudos to the AISD superintenden for a job well done.

Next they will be doing the Argentine Tango. Millions of otherwise devout Catholics have debased themselves in this horrid example of outright sexual explicity on the dance floor.

The Tango women's dresses, high heels and net stockings are as sexually depraved as any street hooker. Married women doing this with other men while their husbands look on. This is the reason that Baptists do not allow any dancing.

Next they will be participating in group sex as done by Swing Dancers.

I agree, bring back the pervertial Alligator. In this wonderful dance three Virgin boys joyfully bounce on each other on the dance floor. This style was so well accepted at our Catholic school that everyone stopped dancing to clap for the boys.

Hip Hop is the best exercise possible on a dance floor. It involves no touching and is often done alone. I have seen both you and Mom on the floor completely alone doing your version called New Wave. The blue hair dye? I am embarrassed to know you. At our last school dance you and Mom were the chaperones and were tossed out by the principal.

Bump and Grind is a way to dance without spilling your beer. It is only one move and is for the stylin' Muffin Tops who can barely walk let alone dance.

It seems that the Parents watching this are dreaming about the young lust they missed out on. How healthy can this be? Teenage hormones in a dark room with loud music, possible some type of drug/alcohol (not all but some), with sexually charged music? You tell me what that adds up to..

Parents actually believe their kids when they say that when they do that dance with a boy/girl that it isn't sexually charged. Of course it is!
There is no doubt that this particular move should not be allowed during dances. What if a boy gets hard during the dance, mix that with a little alcohol, and -walla- you have the propensity of violence waiting to happen. If something did happen, then the parents blame the school for letting it happen. So all of you dumb-f--k, ho-down, bum-f--k, hill-billy's out there, get a clue, and get an education.
