TDS Exclusive: Daft Punk co-star in Kanye West's "Stronger" video

David Prince

Earlier this month, Kanye West talked to MTV about working with Hype Williams on two new videos for his forthcoming Graduation album. “We shot nine days,” he said. “We were out in Japan, we were out in the desert. We’re taking it serious.”

Today, the Daily Swarm confirmed with a rep for Williams’ production company that Kanye’s co-stars in one of the two clips are French house music legends Daft Punk. The video is for a new track called “Stronger” that features West rapping over Daft Punk’s song “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” from duo’s 2001 album Discovery. The video was shot in a desert area outside of Los Angeles in April, and prominently features Daft Punk’s iconic robots in a co-starring role. West debuted “Stronger” at a performance in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in April and again earlier this month at the Hiro Ballroom in New York.

Interesting idea: Ebay as a record label

TDS Editors

This email just came in from our friends in Norway:

MENTAL OVERDRIVE LAUNCH “EXCLUSIVE MUSICSERIES

After almost two decades in the game of electronic music, Norwegian producer Per Martinsen aka Mental Overdrive will pursue a slightly different solution for some of his forthcoming releases.

Hot on the heels of the much acclaimed 12inch single “Spooks”/“Original Material”, recently released on fellow nordmann Prins Thomas’ Full Pupp label (the track “Original Material” was also featured on the recent Sunkissed compilation on Smalltown Supersound along with a Mental Overdrive remix of 120 Days) – the brand new Mental Overdrive track “Elephantastic!” will be put up for sale in early June.

But this time we’re not talking about a regular release in the sense of vinyl, cd or digital download – the track will simply be put up for grabs on eBay – plainly auctioned off to the highest bidder – in 1 copy only.
