Across the Pond: Killers Top Chinese Democracy...

Guest Blogger

The Killers new album “Day & Age” beat out Guns ‘N Roses long-awaited “Chinese Democracy” on the U.K. album charts perhaps offering a preview of this week’s hotly anticipated U.S. chart numbers. For the Las Vegas-based Killers it was their third straight release to hit the top of the British pops. “Chinese Democracy,” which took Axl Rose 17 years to record, is reportedly the most expensive album ever made. Elsewhere Kanye West’s album “808 & Heartbreak,” which is getting mixed reviews on this side of the Atlantic, debuted at Number 11 while the boy band Take That’s “Greatest Day’ dethroned Beyonce’s “If I Were a Boy” atop the singles chart.

A bumper crop of major label big guns will hit the market this month hoping to cash in on the traditional jump in 4th quarter holiday sales which averages roughly a third of the year’s sales. Artists releasing albums this month include Britney Spears, Ludacris, Fall Out Boy, Akon, Brandy, Common, Jaime Foxx, and Keyshia Cole.
