Grooveshark: Pimp Ashley Alexandra Dupre's tracks for cash...

Andrew Wise, VP of Business Development at Grooveshark.com writes:
Say I buy the song from Amie Street, I can then upload that track to Grooveshark and share it with my 50 (please don’t laugh) or so friends. They can then stream for free (obviously), and then download the track. Default price is $.99, so if my friend buys the $.99 track, Ashley gets $.50, I get $.25, and Grooveshark gets $.24.
So essentially what has happened is I have become a marketer for Ashley, and Grooveshark has paid me to do this marketing or I have taken in my own satisfaction from simply sharing this information, kind of like this blog…
If you’re looking for a way to grab music from peer-to-peer networks without that nagging feeling that you’re depriving a starving artist of her next meal (or a label exec of that Learjet upgrade), Grooveshark might help. It’s a P2P app like Limewire or Kazaa, except you have to pay for tracks (“around $0.99”). The artist/label takes their cut, and then Grooveshark splits the remainder 50/50 with the user who uploaded the track to the buyer.
CNET:
To ensure that all this is legal, Grooveshark seems to have either retained the services of the world’s feistiest team of lawyers, or it has entered into agreements with all the major music copyright holders. Or possibly, both.
UPDATE: Ashley’s ‘What We Want’ getting national radio airplay…‘rolled with P. Diddy’s crew’

so you guys are sort of pirating from Amie Street?
...more middle men. What a stupid idea.
@wait a second
the system is designed to enable fans to help market their favorite artists. if you go to a show for an undiscovered artist, buy their cd, and upload it to the intranets --instead of it floating around on limewire, you can put it on grooveshark and allow the artist to get paid on it, or share it so people can simply listen to the tracks; again, all without any work on the artists' part.
