Manchester's Hacienda nightclub rebuilt...in Second Life

TDS Editors

From Subterranean’s guide Where to find indie in Second Life (yikes!) comes this nugget:

Yes, some crazy Manchester people rebuilt the Hacienda as it was in its heyday. It’s unbelievably well done and one of the greatest places to hang out in rough Manc company while you brush up on your English slang and TV references so you can figure out what the hell the locals are talking about.

On any given night you might find Hacienda owners Rudie and Rose Rickenbacker spinning 90s heyday Brit Pop from the Stone Roses, Happy Mondays and Oasis (with some contemporary indie favorites like the Arctic Monkeys and White Stripes thrown in) or some of their DJs playing any manner of bad house music. Go for the times Rudie spins, he has a great habit of congratulating you on requests he likes and ignoring ones he doesn’t. He still ignores us every time we say the word Elastica.

Their group is invite only, but if you show up once or twice you’ll be invited. Being in the group is key to knowing what is happening at the Hacienda, as they tend to DJ at odd times for those of us in the U.S. due to the time difference and currently have no set schedule.
