Here comes the latest U.K. micro-genre: Trancehall, which the Guardian describes as a “term describing the recent slew of uptempo rhythms with trancey synths coming out of the dancehall scene.” The article mentions producers such as Birchill and Don Corleon and the oeuvre’s best-known artist the Brooklyn-based Ricky Blaze whose track “Cut Dem Off” may be the burgeoning genre’s best-known song.
