Specials Reunite With Terry Hall... Announced Dates Start Mysteriously Just Days Before Coachella...

TDS Editors

The Specials announced after three decades they will reunite together for a series of shows in April with the original frontman Terry Hall. The legendary late-‘70s / early-80s 2-tone ska revival band had seven consecutive #1 hits between 1979 and 1981. The following note was posted the band’s website:

All set for a SPECIAL new year

What better way of celebrating 30 years of the iconic 2-Tone record label, than have the band that began it all back on tour? Well you got it, Coventry’s finest are to embark on a UK tour next year, beginning in Newcastle.

Terry Hall told the NME that, “It’s the right time to do it – we talked about it at 25 but we weren’t together enough. Now we’re all getting on and it feels comfortable again.” The paper also reported that while original members Neville Staple, Sir Horace Gentleman, Roddy Radiation, Lynval Golding and John Bradbury are all confirmed Jerry Dammers has yet to sign on.

Either way, get ready to do the dog – hopefully at Coachella.

DD, if you were "suckered" into going to Coachella, it's your fault, not theirs. As someone who has gone the last couple years, it's always a great time, and I would love to see The Specials there in 2009!

Nice news. A scorching triple to deep right field. If Jerry Dammers is on board, though, it's an out of the park home run.

let me repost: right. i was never suckered. Coachella has always been and will continue to be a great time. but i would prefer a couple nights at a smaller venue where i can sip some drinks and maybe move my arms around a bit and maybe chat it up at the show with friends that don't normally partake in the annual herding and fleecing in the palm desert
