UPDATE: Tiesto Lets The Cat Out Of The Bag...Activision's DJ Hero Out Summer '09
TDS Editors
Tiësto has gushed about his involvement in the hush-hush video game project on his newsletter.
“We are proud to announce that Tiësto has teamed up with the game developer Activision and their latest project DJ Hero,” proclaimed the newsletter. Tiësto added: “I am very excited about this! I think this is a great way to introduce people into DJing. Maybe they realize it’s not as easy as they think. I am sure this brings new fans to the scene, dance music is not far from hip-hop for example. Hopefully the music I have composed appeals to all kinds of fans!”

UPDATE: Ultra spokesperson says ‘not finalized’... (via Billboard)
Meanwhile, updating a story posted earlier today, reps for DJ Tiesto are denying the validity of a statement from the artist supposedly sent to his newsletter to confirm his participation in Activision’s long-in-the-works “DJ Hero” videogame. The text was picked up by numerous blogs today.
A spokesperson for the DJ’s U.S. label, Ultra, says the statement is not from Tiesto or his management, and although Tiesto has been in talks with Activision about the game, nothing has been finalized.

This is the ultimate kick to the nads for any actual DJ. Tiesto is a mediocre DJ...why can't you go to GRANDMASTER FLASH for this?!?!
<sarcasm>SWEET!</sarcasm>
Oh for fuck's sake!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Just what the world needs - a bunch of kids learning how to master the "art" of spinning records of other people's music into a mash of crap that only Ecstacy addicts like, let alone can listen to for longer than three seconds before snapping and going postal in a Wal-Mart or something. People complain about waterboarding, but it's a bunch better than making someone listen to DJ "music".
But now that the cat is out of the bag, it's my fervent hope that this Ecstacy fried imbecile is sued into abject poverty for running his mouth, which is what his record lable (a record lable putting out albums of someone spinning other people's albums. Classic. Possibly another reason the RIAA is going broke? They should go after THOSE assholes for royalty theft instead of college kids?) is trying to avoid, hence their empty claims of "he never said that - no he didn't, no he didn't, no he didn't!"
I get 'Guitar Hero' and have actually played it a time or two, although I suck horribly at video games period, but to put out a 'DJ Hero', well, the colossal stupidity of that idea is mind numbing to say the least.
When you think about what DJ's do, I now know why they never use their own names...
To: DJ "Ecstasy Abusing ... "
You are very ignorant! DJ work is very hard and the biggest problem of working as a DJ is the fact that jerks like you don't understand what we do. How about you try this? Take one hour -- just one hour -- to find songs that people DANCE to -- not your blue collar rock listening music crap -- and organize those songs into an order that has some relevance, such as sandwiching less known songs between more popular songs. Now put it in a mix and make sure your mixes don't sound like a train wreck. Now try that for 5 hours per night, three nights per week -- because that's what I have to do! Oh and don't try repeating the same order every night because you don't want shallow as*holes like you accusing the DJ of being predictable.
As far as your obsession with ecstasy. I don't use it and I don't know anyone that uses it. But I could point out that jazz music was once associated with cocaine; rock with LSD, pot, heroin, etc.; disco with cocaine; etc.
As far as DJ Hero. It's sad that the shallow people behind this don't understand that Tiesto is all hype. He is a producer, however -- and that's why the stupid music world respects him. But his skills are average. Why didn't they approach Q-Bert or Roc Raida or someone with respectable skills?
I can see why Tiesto would be involved in this due to his status, but it's still Tiesto. There are so many better DJ's and producers, and a step further there are bedroom DJ's better than him.
I could care less about a DJ video game, but choose someone else to support it. Seriously...
Why are you people so angry? Sure, Tiesto may not be the best choice, but the point is that there is a music game coming out, and it's not another Guitar and drums generic. I myself am a gamer, and I don't enjoy rock music. I'll admit, I listen to DJ music(or whatever you choose to call it) while I game and, no, I don't use drugs. I think I might enjoy a game that combines both gaming and DJ music.
Number one Tiesto is a professional and i admire him a lot, second, i dont see any problem is anyone wants to be a Dj... or is just for a few ppl in the world??
i agree with Rhythm says:Why are you people so angry? here is nothing to fight for, i admire the dj work and i admire anyone who want to do something in their lifes:)) peace and love:))
