AHAHAHA! You included the Tiesto clip, amazing! LOL
Reason #11...
I drank too much and popped too many pills at SXSW.
We have to excuse Cee-Lo for the Oakey thing. He needs someone with more of a clue when it comes to 'dance' music in his camp, obvs. And in terms of Benny Banassi, I had no issues with the dude until he beat CARL CRAIG for the 'dance' Grammy this year. Not that the Grammys mean much, but come the eff on. Carl Craig is a musical legend. Benny...not so much.
I don't understand why Justice and Erol Alkan are on the main stage when they should be at the "Dance Rock" stage w/ MSTRKRFT, LA Riots, and Digitalism, it just makes so much more sense. Besides, Justice doesn't drop techno, they drop hard electro, 80s, funk and disco. With them opening for Tiesto, the Tiesto fanboys are going to be so confused and hateful.
I think Mitch is underestimating exactly how popular Justice have become. Justice plays on MTV more than Tiesto ever has and are in command an entire army of indie hipsters and Daft fanatics.
Tiesto-loving douchebags will be confused but likely outnumbered for the moment. Erol's a bit more techno than you give him credit for, anyway.
Reason #12
I'm the record company designer and I'm still designing last minute party flyers.
The tiesto clip is great! hahaha
was really considering it, but the 3 hour drive just seemed too much of a hassle for nothing...
bwahahaha, great collection of reasons.
never again,, last year, WMC tried to murder me and broke the bank. forgettaboutit xxA
Excellent, indeed
diddy partay finna be a JOKE. like the entire conference!
wow.
what an amazing episode for www. top 10 douchebags .com ?
Is it just me or do the words "Winter Music Conference" sound so wrong coming out of Diddy's mouth?
VHJuan: Actually, it sounds all too right...Diddy looks like he's on some of this in that wmc video too:

I'll be there.. Miami that is this week. Well who can argue with 80 degree plus weather, sunshine, sitting by the pool at Delano and looking at the beautiful women. Hearing some great music if you like Erykah Badu, Carl Craig, Jazzanova, Turntables On The Hudson, Bugz In The Attic, Benji B. Also Florida Room sounds fun this year too new space that is being programmed by Yoyo boys from LDN.
No, I understand how popular Justice are, but the fact is...they are popular on MTV for D.A.N.C.E; DVNO has not played on MTV's regular rotation, and they are not on the level of Tiesto's maddening fanbase of tight-shirted, Armani-wearing trust fund babies. For every Justice fan there is at least 5 douchebag Tiesto fans.
It doesn't make sense why they'd do a DJ set, though...their live show is great, but their DJ sets are so full of variety, and the main stage is full of techno/trance. So, they'll stick out like a sore thumb. If they get booed, I wouldn't be surprised.
I'm quite surprised The Bloody Beetroots aren't on this bill, though. They've generated quite a buzz in the past few months.
That Tiesto clip is one of the funniest thing's I've seen lately
Reason 9. Jonathan Peters’ Pirate Boat Cruise [tickets $700/$2000]
One of my favorites, 2000$ ridiculous, i could get a hooker and and 8 ball for less and have more fun
Peter Hook admitted to one of the editors of Mixmag that he uses/used to use their free covermount CDs when DJ'ing and simply mime to them...
He also says he doesn't mix or beatmatch? Or something like that. It's on his MySpace blog.
So errrrrm... yeah
GH-
Precisely what I said when they ran that Peter Hook 'no hands' story here on TDS and I got bashed for saying it. I love Joy Division and New Order tremendously but it pains me to see Hook acting like such a douche (both for "DJing" and a myriad of other stupid shit)
Junior Vasquez isn't spinning Hannah Montana in Miami thats why my budget didn't get on a plane to Florida. And, did Junior Sanchez spin or even own a Madonna-Justin Timberlake record before the Queen started paying him?
I live in New York- door charges dropped to five bucks, guests lists are available online..plus they hire people to bring a crowd and guests.. its an employment opportunity on Craigslist-
Crobar closed-Avalon sucks- and old school at this point is Chemcial Brothers...time to recycle the 90's..the 80's is ovah, the 70's was the 90's trend. The real reason to blow off the residue from hype long gone after clubbing died with corporate entertainment control and washed out music freaks who never heard a Jamie Principle single or understand the genius behind DEVO is Miami ain't cheap and Madonna didn't buy me a ticket.
Does Diddy have any idea none of the events at Cameo were even sancationed by the WMC?
Man.... Educate yourself before you open your mouth!
that top 10 list is what you get when you are a wmc tourist.
Here are top 10 suggestions on how to make WMC work for you from a 7 year vet.
1. fly into ft. lauderdale on southwest. same cost to take a cab to south beach from miami int. or ft lauderdale airport.
2. don't book a hotel on south beach, get a condo it is 50% less with double the space and possibly a kitchen / fridge (more on that later)
3. if south beach is all booked up stay in downtown miami or north of 30th street on collins and get a scooter. way way cheaper.
4. eating and drinking out every night? That would break anyone's bank. snack and drink from your condo kitchen before going to a club.
5. If a club charges $50+ at the door don't go in, doesn't matter who is djing because the crowd will be whacked and packed with flossers and posers. Besides that same dj will probably play another more underground, or free day party. check the list.
6. Visit your favorite label's website and sign up for free admission parties. ie. the summer soiree put on by Giant Step at the beautiful Delano poolside. Past acts include Baduh, giles peterson, carl craig, roland appel, yes free.
7. Unless it is a business expense or free. do not buy a wmc pass and don't go to ultra.
8. Plan what parties you will hit by checking the list on the wmc website and getting a wmc booklet when you get there.
9. don't attend any parties sponsored by pepsi, mtv, hp computers etc.
10. if house is your thing you are in luck. If you like Tiesto, Paul oakenfold, dj am, diddy or any "superstar" you are guaranteed to be overcharged for admission $70+ , drinks $21+ for a tiny plastic cup, packed like sardines next to sweaty, roided jersey boyz and treated like cattle.
