Original Cut: Gnarls Barkley - "Run" (cameo by Justin Timberlake)
TDS Editors
UPDATE: Subterranean:
MTV UK did request the band make edits so it was suitable for air in relation to the Harding Test, which disallows the airing of strobe effects that may cause epileptic seizures.
However, the unedited version of the Gnarls video has been posted on MTV.com since you read about it here last Friday, will air in TRL tomorrow and goes into rotation on MTV proper next week.
MTV UK will also begin airing the video, with requested edits, next week. Apparently Billboard.com have also amended their original story to reflect it’s relevance to MTV UK only.
UPDATE: Reuters: New Gnarls Barkley video too crazy for MTV:
The video for Gnarls Barkley’s new single, “Run,” may feature a cameo from Justin Timberlake, but it’s still not quite ready to air on MTV.
That’s because of its strobe effects, which caused the clip to fail the Harding Test—guidelines established to prevent TV images from triggering epileptic seizures.
We were psyched when we heard that Daily Swarm readers Happy got the gig directing the video for Gnarl Barkley’s “Run;” we were extra psyched when we heard that Justin Timberlake was making a cameo; and we’re super psyched that Happy have given The Daily Swarm an exclusive look at the banned uncut seizure-inducing version.

snoop called. he wants his fuzzy VHS youtube video effect back.
Wooooo - happy rule and that video is fantastic. love this!!! This song is gonna be huge, huh?
Absolutely awesome. Great song, great treatment. And if we're gonna get really nerdy and dissect one of the rare creative music videos that will get made this year, the Outkast video was borrowing form a different era, different style of show, different different different.
Cool effects towards the end, but can't help but feel Outkast did it much, much better. Something about bothers me about JT being in here . . . maybe it's his McDonalds pitching, his weak post-nipplegate apology at the grammys . . or maybe it's because the high-top fade haircuts in this video recall the late 80s/early 90s, that era when so much quality hip-hop was being produced . . . and JT opted for the cornball boy-band route.
But I guess we're all supposed to forget about that.
City Vibin'!!!
Catchphrase of the year
Gnarls does it again on the zeitgeist tip
Hooray for Happy!!!
Just because there are some brown people with an inordinate sense of the funk and a tendency to blend genres here, that doesn't make this an Outkast rip. Duh. #7 Longhorn Rob is right: just because there are a bunch of brothers and sisters dancing don't make it no Outkast. By the way, this is an homage to Graffiti Rock, not Outkast. Google it, mofo.
fresh! i need a nap now.

A shitty, empty song with no hook and no force, the video of which is almost completely ripped off from the "Nozin' Around" skit from "The Young Ones". Gay disco only takes you so far, guys.
I'm glad that MTV is showing this great video. However, it might've been better if they'd banned it... as MTV has zero cultural relevance right now.
WTF are you people talking about? This song wouldn't have even made the cut on the first album!
Look out! It's the Sophomore Slump!
No worries...the kids will eat it up hook, line, and sinker.
